A Commitment To Helping The Unhoused Of Long Beach

Ashlee’s Homeless Fund: We are working every day to move people forward and help them regain their lives.  We assist with access to rehab, sober living, transitional housing, and transportation to rejoin family anywhere in the country.  Our goal is to find a stable environment and support system for every unhoused person in need in the community.

Donald a 53 year old man, thought Long Beach would be better than Amarillo given that he is homeless. He has been here for about five months.and found out it is not safe on the streets of Long Beach. He is going home via Greyhound today to his dog and friends.
I received a call from Officer Stahmann this morning at 730 asking if Ashlee's could assist with a bus ticket. We provided the ticket, food, snacks, water, wipes and a hygiene kit for the trip.

Thank you to everyone who makes our work possible!

Katherine is receiving help! Pat reached out to Quality Of Life and to me requesting help for Katherine. She had recently moved from the cardboard box she was living in a shared vehicle. She has several medical issues leaving her disabled. They were able to get her and her dog into the new Recuperative Care Center at Community Hospital.

HEARTBREAKING!! This older man was sleeping on PCH next to the bike lane. I received a call to get him out of the street before he was hurt. When I arrived around 4:30 he was asleep and did not want to wake up. Someone had called the LBFD. I called LBPD. Sadly, no one wanted to help. They kept asking what do you want us to do. He was awake and very agitated and aggressive. The LBFD said he does not want help. and he does not meet the criteria...even though they did not ask him the required questions. He could not give his name or location, he was spitting, he physically assaulted the officer, and he could not understand why sleeping in the street was unsafe. I got him to move to a safer location and the officers left.
MET & QOL were unavailable, they would have handled it before it got to assaults and him being left at risk!!

This feels like such a failure. He was either drunk or had dementia and was at serious risk.

MICHAEL GOES HOME! I received a call about some guys who arrived here from San Bernadino looking for help. I went out to the beach and could not find them. Michael was sitting on the sand looking distressed. I asked him what was going on and he explained he could not walk any further and did not know how to get home. He has been here for over a month and realized it is not a good place for him. I was not comfortable transporting him alone. Again, I called Officer Stahmann. I provided the ticket and he took Michael to the bus. Michael's mom will be waiting for him.

Quality Of Life not only helps the homeless but reduces problems on the street. We need them 7 days per week!
